1857 – 2007 From Normal School to the Faculty of Education
Celebrating the Past, Present, and Future.

Tuesday March 3, 1857 marked the commencement of organized teacher training in the Province of Quebec (then Lower Canada). The Jacques Cartier Normal School and the McGill Normal School both opened their doors that day to begin a 150-year tradition of teacher education in Quebec. In 2007 McGill’s Faculty of Education celebrates 150 Years from Normal.
