1870 William H. Hicks became principal of McGill Normal School.

1874 The Montreal High School for Girls was founded and employed graduates from the McGill Normal School, including four teachers and a female principal.

Sampson P. Robbins an innovative educator, was appointed principal of the McGill Normal School. He improved programs and reduced teaching loads.

1902 Protestant teachers earned $17 per month and 54% had no formal training.

1895 A Kindergarten program was added to the McGill Normal School.
