1965 C. Wayne Hall became the first Dean of the Faculty, and Marguerite F.L. Horton was employed as the first female professor in the Faculty.


1966 Professor Margaret Gillett, (who would come to hold the Macdonald Chair of Education in 1982), was the founding editor of The McGill Journal of Education.

1966 Faculty Directors and Chairs

1969 The Faculty of Education was reorganized into 13 departments. The first PhD in Education was awarded to Norman Henchey, who later became a professor in the Department of Social Foundations of Education, and who remains a Professor Emeritus in the Faculty.
